SGA is inviting students for tea

Next week, Student Government Association is inviting students to relax with a cup of tea.

The event will be located in the Student Union Atrium from noon to 2 p.m. on Nov. 29 and 30.

Last year, SGA held the event under the former health and sustainability coordinator and was extremely successful, handing out over 200 stainless steel coffee tumblers.

This year, for the first time, students will be able to create their own tea bags using local herbs grown on campus at the Arboretum’s community garden, the Creative School for Children’s community garden and the Wellness and Health Promotion Services’ tower gardens.

“The herbs will be pre-dried and categorized for students to choose which stress relief systems and flavors that they would like to include in their tea bag,” said Hannah Hollinger, SGA’s health and sustainability coordinator.

Students will have the option to choose from passion flowers, which are naturally calming and provide relief from anxiety; holy basil to promote mental balance; lemongrass to help with high blood pressure and mint to calm nausea and breathe easier.

Ceramic coffee tumblers and tea bags will be dispersed until 2 p.m. or until supplies last. Students in attendance will also be given information on resources on campus that provide stress management spaces and activities to help them relax throughout finals week.
